Artificial (virtual) is the new reality

Will the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Finlandia Literature Prize  go to ChatGPTs and publishers rewriters in 2030?

The market trial of machine "written books" seems to be innocent. Books for minors are ”just books” and crime books are ”just popular fiction”. However, we are blurring the line between human and artificial text production, machine writing.

Automated writing has very little to do with literature and human thought process. However, humans have always been innovative to mechanize their routine tasks. See the picture above: Antikythera, a mechanical calculator from Greece, second century B.C.!

Writing is a routine task - thinking behind words is not!

”There were over 200 e-books in Amazon’s Kindle store as of mid-February listing ChatGPT as an author or co-author, including "How to Write and Create Content Using ChatGPT," "The Power of Homework" and poetry collection "Echoes of the Universe." And the number is rising daily. There is even a new sub-genre on Amazon: Books about using ChatGPT, written entirely by ChatGPT.”

Netflix add last year tells where we are going: "Streaming is reality."

Publishers are actively editing already published books to make the text more appealing to and acceptable to contemporary readers (text and audio). No n-words, no f-words, no racist expression etc.
I wonder how the big audience can get create their own impression how the world looked and sounded like during grandparents time and beyond. The danger is that the big turning points and game changing events in the world history are styled to meaningless entertainment, like the entertainment muzak in the malls and shopping centres.

For the Finnish speaking audience, who do not like to read texts anymore but to ”read audiobooks”.

Hei suomalaiset, jotka ette jaksa/halua lukea enää tekstejä, tässä lyhyt johdatus koneen muodostamaan tekstiin, kuten ChatGPT:  https://areena.yle.fi/podcastit/1-61894955

I am not at all against the use of machine writing. I would love to get rid off the not-so-funny made in China instruction manuals, where the reading requires sometimes good imagination and language skills. No wonder folks use Youtube as manuals for everything.

Keep writing, keep reading, keep being critical of what you read!

PS. This was written without AI assistance. Even the spell checker was turned off!
It´s me, and only me.
